Abstract
The degree of job stress, psychological well-being and self-efficacy were compared between clinical mental health social workers and general social workers groups. In a sample of 204 participants recruited from Seoul Metropolitan and Gyoung-Gi areas, the group of clinical social workers reported lower well-being and self-efficacy, but higher job stress. The differences were statistically significant from t-tests and multiple regression analyses further confirming the mediating effect of having cases with severe mental disorders in predicting clinical social workers¡¯ job stress, well-being, and self-efficacy. Authors analyzed possible reasons in terms of social work training, characteristics of serving population, job setting and work environment, job requirements and so on. Recommendations were further addressed in the discussion.
